Aluviana's new album soon to be released on Syrphe records 2010

With 'visual prowess' very similar to Aluviana's former works, "Tonična negibnost" (i.e. "Tonic Immobility") is a tour de force in fantasy made real. There's heaps of charm, plenty of improbable scenarios and lots of surprises around the corner. It manages to be serious but entertaining, sane but daft, deadly accurate before it suddenly erupts in a comedy of errors, alive but sanguine, mature but childish, sick of the world, then impetuously in love with it... The tonal vocabulary, samples and influences are so diverse that any identifications or descriptions are best left alone. Although a critical listener accustomed to Aluviana's previous work may not like it (as it appears to cross the rigidly established serious/comic genre definitions), this album has a serious message, one that is too serious even for documentaries to deal with successfully. I got the message and was thankful for it.

This is a very clever and beautifully crafted album and one that I can imagine revisiting many times in the future. If the first impressions never do lie, then is it a mere coincidence that mine was that of a partially remembered dream told by an ancient shark, who had swum the seven seas and seen what the future holds long before you and I have ever existed? And who said that sharks have no sense of humour, for that matter? Lord Ferdi the Despiser
